As to the Mother's Day meal at church...  :)   There were two large
heaps of baked marinated chicken breast meat, and a smaller single heap
of chicken thighs, made with the same marinade.  As I prefer dark meat,
all I tried was thigh meat, which was quite good.  Also on the table
were mashed potatoes, white rice, corn, peas, and a nice broccoli dish. 
There was also a tray of little hors d'oeuvres, totally homemade by one
of our young single men... a little shell with pesto filling topped with
a sprig of something, a slice of cherry tomato and a sliver of maybe red
pepper... very nice.  :)  For salads, there were a couple of different
large tossed salads, a bowl of applesauce, and a fruity tuna pasta salad
(which turned out to have apple pieces in it, along with pineapple... I
handed off the apple to Richard, the rest was pretty good).  And then
there were an assortment of breads and rolls, including a loaf of
Glutino gluten-free bread, with butter packets available.  

For dessert, there was also a variety... one was a napoleon-structured
dessert, with layers of saltines and banana pudding, with a chocolate
layer on top, which Richard had a couple helpings of.  Another was a
mint chocolate cheesecake with chocolate curls atop, made by a 17-y-o
young man, which was VERY good (I had some of that one)...  :)  Our
pastor made some very yummy pecan bars, a slightly drier version of a
pecan pie, which was also very good.  Also some cupcakes, possibly store
bought, didn't pay much attention to them...  Also a shark cake, made by
members of the family that has severe gluten-intolerence issues, so
probably gluten-free...  It was on display earlier on, but I forgot to
pay attention when the rest of the desserts came out...  :)

There were leftovers of the chicken breasts, the corn, and the breads,
which were being pressed on people to take home with them...  Richard
had brought the gluten-free bread, and we sent it home with the family
that could use it.  If there had been any leftovers of the thigh meat, I
might have sprung for that, but they were all eaten...  :)  Whoever
brought the corn (maybe it was more than one person), it was really
overestimated... two large serving bowls full, not surprised we couldn't
eat it all..  :)

I think we were fed better than if we'd gone out to eat for Mother's
Day...  :)
