That's pretty much the case all over...  supposedly, the online versions
of newspapers are more content-filled, but the "hard-copy" versions have
less and less to commend them.  By the time I gave up on the Democrat &
Chronicle here, their world and national news was cribbed directly from
USA Today... which, admittedly is owned by the same overall outfit...

Apparently their perceptions of the target audience and yours are at
odds... ;)  Again, very typical...

We aim for around 6, also... scheduling can throw that off, sometimes
substantially... Sundays, the big meal is always in the middle of the
day, though... and if for some reason we both have a big meal midday on
a week day, that would take the place of a main meal at night...  I
don't fix big meals other than at night, generally, though...  :)

Ah, that makes sense...  schnitzel was ringing faint bells for me, and
that fills it in...  ;)
