RH> Not quite a food desert but getting close? At least you won't have to
RH> go very far before or after work, should you wish to pick something up.

They have a "casual dining" restaurant inside called the "Marketplace Grille"
which some of the staff at my Auto Zone have tried out. They used to skip
across the street the other direction to the Walgreen's store for snack items,
etc. Now they can go to Hy-Vee for that sort of thing or for a sandwich or
other edibles.

I'll probably check out the restaurant before I try out the grocery aisles.
I'll let you know.

DD> 15c per gallon would prompt me to drive a fair distance to get in on
DD> the deal. As it is my Moto-Mart - where I have been buying fuel since

RH> I wouldn't go too far away as it would burn up any savings in getting

RH> 5c/gallon less than the Lowe's grocery station near us. Probably burned
RH> about a gallon or so in the drive home.

DD> Depends on how far "out-of-route" I have to go. I'm not one of those
DD> who will drive to the next town to save $5 on a tank of fuel and burn
DD> two to three gallons of $3.00 (or more) gasoline getting there and

RH> He went up there to renew his driver's license. Beats the crowds at the
RH> DMVs in Raleigh and has a fairly scenic drive in the deal. Gas prices
RH> were good enough to fill up while he was there.

Like I said - if there is a reason for going there then it's not just a trip
to
save a few farthings per gallon. Even if it doesn't make a lot of sense it
lets
my mind rest easier. Bv)=

DD> Sunday you get a coupon for a free car wash. That's not just for

RH> We try not to buy gas on Sundays, unless travelling.

DD> We fill the company vans there on Sundays. Sometimes twice. So, we
DD> keep the white, Moby Dick-like, haulers pretty clean - on their
DD> nickle. I just sent an e-mail to Moto-Mart's headquarters asking for
DD> locations between Illinois and Maryland - thinking ahead, as it were.

RH> We just take the luck of the road most times when travelling. Same as
RH> finding meals--and we've found some good ones in least anticipated
 RH> places.

Other than a sad experience with a Denny's on the way home from the Fly-fest
I've had pretty good luck with road food. And once when trying to find a
roadside BBQ I had bragged up to my brother and sister - we found that that
stretch of US 90 between Hattiesburg and Mobile had been 4-laned and the
BBQ/Grocery Store was but a memory. Dang, that was some good Q, too.

DD> The Mobil stations here feature a price that is 10c/gallon lower than
DD> the market - until you read the small print "w/wash". A six or seven
DD> dollar wash will save you two bucks on 20 gallons ... not nearly so
DD> good a deal as a $7 wash with 10 gallons of gas you were gonna buy
 DD> anyway. Bv)=

RH> Plus taking the time to go thru the was, especially if there's a line.
RH> Sounds like a deal we can easily forego.

That's another good thing about the Moto-Mart deal. You get a coupon with a
code printed on it which is good for 30 days. You don't have to wait on line
for the wash to be open to you. At the Mobil you must get the wash and the
fuel
on the same trip. Some of the Shell stations just give a dollar off whichever
level of car wash you wish to do - with a minimum 5 gallon purchase. But, like
the Mobil deal - it all has to be on the same trip.
