Wise idea.  Cataract surgery generally is covered, though...  Even
Medicare, that doesn't cover a lot of eye care, covers that along with
(admittedly minimal) coverage for post-surgery glasses.  Disease of the
eye is covered pretty generally...

Probably similar to getting used to contact lenses, although I have no
personal experience there.  In my case, since most of my correction is
for astigmatism, and we decided we couldn't afford the non-covered
upcharge of $1000 per eye to get that, I'm still wearing the same
glasses as before, just with a different correction in the lenses...

A friend of mine from church, for one... dunno if you met Beth or not...
She was rather near-sighted pre-cataracts, and had hers done maybe 6
months or so before mine... She had to pop out the lens from the first
eye, the difference was so great...  Now she has reading glasses, much
thinner/lighter than her long-time glasses...

Not being local...  :)   Next visit, it will definitely be one of the
stops...  ;)   In the meantime, we'll do what we can to contribute to
