Most of mine will admit to lack of expertise, in certain areas,
anyway...  I've found that the ones that really will work with me aren't
likely to give me the baffle-load...  Of course, by now, they pretty
much know that I'm not easily baffled...  ;)  And the ones that HAVE
tried that with me, I pretty much don't end up staying with for long.  I
expect real explanations from my medical professionals, along with a
willingness to listen to my input...  :)

I've got a rep with my doctors for knowing my body, and paying attention
to stuff, both for me and for anyone I've been helping with their health
issues...  :)  Doesn't mean that between us we still always catch
everything... and we all agree that there's more to learn...  ;)

Sounds like you've got a keeper there...  :)  Both admitting that he
blew it, and learning to relax with you... ;)  Especially as it appears
that he is otherwise quite capable...  :)
