===========================
Hi Sean,

RH> Too bad--our favorite chicken marinade (then we grill it) has vinegar
RH> in it. I use it in other cooking too, generally using an unfiltered
RH> cider vinegar for things like salad dressing.

SD> I can't stand ketchup, mayo, even mustard.

I don't do much ketchup, generally spicy brown mustard if I have a
choice and a good mayo like Duke's. Ketchup has gotten too sweet, over
the past few years, for my liking. I'll sometimes use my home made chili
sauce or pickle relish, the latter mixes well with mayo also.

RH> Makes cooking interesting, tho not impossible. Is the G5 the one with
RH> the grill plates, the waffle plates and the rectangular pan? If so,
RH> that's the one we have. We use it mostly as a grill, secondary as a
RH> waffle maker and occaisionally will do something in the pan.

SD> Yep, that's the one. Mine's red. It has a nice little cookbook with

We got the red one as well. Most of the time it sits out on a counter
top as it's used quite a bit and is awkward, at best, to stow. We don't
use the cook book very often, mostly cooking by temperature by sticking
a thermometer into the meat.

SD> it too. I like to cook meat on it as the G5 makes cooking meat very
SD> easy for me down here. Plus it drains off fat too. One of my
SD> favorite meats to cook is "breakfast" pork chops. They come out
SD> fat-free and done just right enough for me to gum.

It is nice, in that it has the fat draining system with it. Just have to
make sure that the tray doesn't get jostled. (G) We do a lot of bacon,
chicken breasts, and pork chops in ours, plus Steve will make up a good
sized batch of waffles from time to time (freezing the extras).

RH> Bring down enough water so you can soak really dirty stuff in hot,
RH> soapy water for a bit before taking it upstairs. It'll clean up
 RH> easier.

SD> I do that; I have a small dish tub. The grill plates are especially
SD> notorious for being difficult to clean if you let them sit for too
 SD> long.

Ours cool, then go into hot, soapy water. Helps that the sink isn't too
far away from the grill. Steve usually cleans the plates for me but
usually after I've done other clean up. I'll get the plates soaking so
by the time he gets around to cleaning them up, they're easy to clean.

RH> Good to have the means to do so, even if it's not quite a proper
 RH> kitchen.

SD> Something funny: the main air intake for the air conditioning is in my
SD> room so when I cook, everyone knows I'm cooking and sometimes my mom
SD> pokes her head down the stairs and asks what I'm cooking!

Ever fix a meal for her, showing how well you can cook on a limited set
up?

RH> Try to get the eating schedule on a semblence of normal; it'll make
RH> the return to normal easier. It may be easier said than done but
RH> working at it will de stress you a bit in the long run.

SD> It's always something to be worked on, for sure. I just discovered
SD> that we have a Planet Fitness gym here; $10 a month, no commitment.
SD> However, if I get this job I'm trying for, there will be no need for a
 SD> gym!

What kind of a job are you trying for? We can work out at the Senior
Center in town, no charge. Since it's right by the place where I go for
quilting, Steve has taken me, then gone to work out. I get my work out
in the set up/tear down for our quilting group. (G)
