=============================
Hi Nancy,

NB> for me. RH>> Either the grits or the toast or the potatoes, not all
NB> 3, and probably RH>> not even 2. In that case, the instant grits are
NB> an easy sacrifice. NB>> I'd probably drop both the potatoes and the
 NB> instant grits... :)

RH> Same here, as long as I could get whole wheat toast.

 NB> Yup.

Tho most places it's not much more than colored white bread, in reality.
Nice try, doesn't quite fly.

 NB> RH>>> You've got a bit of time yet. (G)
 NB> NB>>> Yup... a couple of weeks, anyway... :)
NB> RH>> It'll be here before you know it.
NB> NB>> Especially since I'm off for two short trips in the next two
NB> NB>> weekends... this weekend to the Pond for my fall board meeting,
NB> next NB>> weekend taking a friend to a genealogy meeting in Fonda,
NB> and coming NB>> home via the Pond to pick up the kid for his flight
 NB> out on the
 NB> NB>> Tuesday after...

 RH> On the road again.........................

NB> With a vengeance... (G) But at least circumstances have pushed our
NB> usual 4th Sunday date to the next week (first Sunday of November), so
 NB> there's a little more breathing space... ;)

That's a bit of a relief! Are you going to meet the week before
Thaksgiving? Our American Legion Auxilary group decided to do their
Christmas brunch in mid January of next year. They did it this year also
but I had to pass on it; it was right after Steve came home from the
hospital after his stroke.

NB> RH>> We tried to go to a German place in Durham a few weeks ago after
NB> an RH>> appointment in Chapel Hill. Got there and it looked like it
NB> had been RH>> closed up for a good while. Settled for a Bob Evans; it
NB> beat McD's. NB>> There's another bummer... Bob Evans would beat
 NB> McD's, at least by a NB>> bit....

RH> It wasn't the best German place we've been to in the states but it was
RH> a (relatively) local one. Have to look up some of the others and give
 RH> them a try.

NB> And now that you are settling there for a while, you'll have time to
NB> check out more... and get back to some of your other "do-again!"
 NB> places... :)

We got back to our usual prime rib spot tonight, but for German food
instead. They missed the mark somewhat but we'll go back for more prime
rib. Living in this area, there are quite a few places we can try if
we're willing to drive a bit. I always read the paper's restaurant
reviews on Friday to get ideas.

NB> RH>> places to go in M'ville for a good meal.
NB> NB>> But one does need to have someone competent take it over, or it
 NB> NB>> wouldn't last anyway...

RH> For sure! I'd hate to have somebody like my brother Bill take over
RH> the cooking. OTOH, Steve and I could do a decent job of it (but
 RH> aren't going to buy it). (G)

NB> No, your hand has been called... (G) Not something that you could
 NB> do long-distance from WF... :)

We wouldn't want to run it either, to be honest. I'd never get any
sewing done if I ran a restaurant! Steve would be spending all his
computer time putting in orders to suppliers, figuring costs, etc and
neither of us would have time for Fido.

RH> Just e-mailed Don before I started Fido; he'd sent an update on
RH> everyone. Told him we probably won't be up until spring unless
RH> something happens that we have to make a trip up. Both parents are
RH> going downhill fairly fast now.

NB> Sad, but not really that unexpected... hopefully things will stablize
NB> some... we'll keep them in our prayers... :)

No, not unexpected. Just wondering how much longer they'll hold on.

RH> Bill is still in rehab, still a long
RH> way to go, but getting fitted for a prosthetic foot.

NB> That's progress, anyway... :) Do things look like they will work
NB> out for your previously planned November trip south...?

I just asked Steve; that trip is off for now. He wants to try, as much
as possible, to be out of here before mid December. It'll mean an
increase in our getting ready level over the next few weeks but, if we
can't, then we will, for sure, be out by the end of the month.

 NB> NB>> ... I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe place
 NB> somewhere.

RH> Oh how true that is!

NB> One certainly hopes so, anyway... ;)

It's going to be even true-er with a move in the not too distant future.

Catch you later,
Ruth
