My body tends to suppress pain, so if it is getting my attention, it's
already over that 3...  pain I can't get to settle to a point that I can
ignore, even temporarily is definitely closer to the top of the scale...

That makes more sense to me than it being a specific scale (which often
nurses try to make it be, instead of subjective)...  it's not very
helpful if a person comes in saying it's a 10, but acting like there's
nothing really wrong....
