Lots of reasons not to go that direction.  :)

As long as you qualify for a mortgage, they aren't bad things to have...
and as you noted earlier, you can always pay it off early without
penalty.  Mortgage interest is a better (and usually much lower) form of
interest than credit card interest...  I try not to have credit card
interest, too... and the only card I do carry a balance on has a
relatively low rate, and is my oldest card, so affects my ratings
positively...
