======================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> One has to do some serious tracing to keep families straight.
 NB> ;)

RH> And pay pretty close attention to who's parents are who's with
RH> overlapping generations and names carried for multiple generations.
 RH> Fun times. (G)

NB> Not too hard with the ones one sees all the time, or at least on a
NB> regular basis... :) Names carried down can confuse the issue, of
NB> course... :) Bad enough when the same name is used in various
NB> families in the same generation... :)

I know my first name has been used for a first cousin's middle name, 1st
cousin once removed as part of her first name, me, and it's Deborah's
middle name. Dad's only sister (mom to cousin, grandmother to 1st cousin
removed) had it as a first name. My brother Bill was named for his
grandfathers but it's also the name of my dad's older brother. Don has a
different middle name but first name was for dad's younger brother. Yes,
it is fun figuring out where the name came from, who has it and what
relationships to others who have the same name.

NB> NB>>> Things like that can bring the scattered family back together,
 NB> NB>>> if only for a little while. :)
NB> RH>> In some instances, more than weddings and funerals.
NB> NB>> Less formal than weddings, and generally with less angst than
 NB> NB>> funerals.

RH> And a big pot of chowder both times as I recall. My younger brother is
RH> supposed to, at some time, go out to WI to get the family chowder pot.

NB> No one in that branch of the family is interested in keeping it...?

They're daughtered out--one cousin not married; sister was married, now
divorced and final sister broke her engagement to long time fiancee--so
far. Things could change but I'm not too sure at this point.

RH> Don't know if he'll ever make any, Mom's copy of the recipe is
RH> somewhere in the house but we don't know where.

NB> If it's still in the house, it'll turn up eventually... :) And,

Who knows at this point--it may have gotten tossed out inadvertantly or
when somebody was going thru a pile of books/papers. It would be nice if
it did, but I'm not too optimistic at this point.

NB> maybe, when Don goes to pick up the pot, he can ask for a copy of
NB> their copy of the recipe.. :)

Yes, and we'll get it from him, put it into electronic format.

NB> NB>>> The Claxton seem to be ubiquitous... :) They aren't
NB> horrible, NB>>> just not as nice as one would like... :)
NB> RH>> Too sticky sweet for my tastes--makes my teeth itch. (G)
NB> NB>> A read of the ingredients turned up, among all the sugars,
 NB> HFCS...

RH> BLEURGH! It won't enter my house!

NB> That's the reaction I was expecting... (G) If you do get a chance to
NB> try the Wegmans' premium one, though, that is a lot better... I don't

Don't know when/if we will, quite doubtful for this year. I think we're
going to hold out till warmer weather (if we can) before making a trip
up north. By then, the fruit cakes will be long gone.

NB> think it has the suspect ingredients in it... they've been pulling
NB> back from using a lot of the bad stuff in their own baking. Just came
 NB> out
NB> with a new line of pastries without any trans fats... still lots of
NB> sugar and carbs, of course, but somewhat healthier for you... :)

Trying to keep up with Whole Foods, and sounds like they're doing a good
job in their own right. Wish one were closer to us but we do have Whole
Foods relatively close.

NB> packing RH>> today as my elbow started hurting from pulling the tape
NB> gun so much RH>> over the past few days.
 NB> NB>> I can imagine... I'm surprised your wrists weren't complaining
 NB> as NB>> well...

RH> I've been wearing a light support on the left one almost constantly
RH> the past couple of weeks, may have to go with the heavier duty one
RH> soon. The right one is fine but it don't break as badly.

NB> That was good planning... When you go to the heavier duty one for the
NB> left, the right might appreciater the light support, too.. :)

Probably so. I didn't get as many boxes packed today (doing other stuff)
but beginning to see sizeable gaps in the cabinet/cupboard shelves. Most
of my ceramic & pyrex is packed up, a good bit of the pantry is as well.

NB> care of RH>> while the place was relatively empty. He should wind
NB> that up by Monday NB>> That makes sense. Some things are much easier
NB> before you actually NB>> move in... :)

RH> Yes, and it gets them done sooner, rather than later. He said it
RH> looked like the oven had never been cleaned, dishwasher was almost
RH> as bad and fridge was bad, but not as bad as the first 2.

NB> Yeah, harder to get to them quite so quickly once you start using
NB> them... or when you are busy trying to figure out where to put other
NB> things away... :) Those sound like they really did need doing
NB> before you tried to use them, though...! :)

It was amazing how much certain things had been neglected. Maybe we were
expecting more but we knew what standard military quarters had to be
cleaned to before the next tenants moved in so we were expecting better
than what we saw. This place (Pearce Ave) will be cleaned to the
military standard.

NB> RH>> night or so, then the boxes will go over as fast as we can load
NB> the RH>> car, drive over, unload the car, return and repeat until
NB> finished. NB>> Probably over the course of a a few days... :)

RH> Yes, and it'll free up space here to continue packing.

NB> Otherwise, after a while, one runs out of staging areas... ;)

That's why Steve is taking them over now. We've so many boxes waiting to
be filled, we're lacking room to put the filled ones. He just took the
ones I filled earlier today.

NB> RH>> Always. but we're closed now. Got a nice kitchen knife as a
NB> present RH>> from our realter--a serrated utility one.
NB> NB>> That's nice. :) Did he know you were into cooking, or is that
 NB> his NB>> standard gift...?

RH> In this case, she knew we like to cook. She's also a friend, and
 RH> member of our church.

NB> Ah. That makes plenty of sense, then... And probably she got you a
NB> fairly good quality one, too, then... :)

Yes, it's one that will probably outlast us. (G)
