From what I recall of psychedelia, the colors come in very
distinct, almost chiseled-looking, bands. The rather milder
pinks and whites of a red cabbage salad would be more oozy
and messy.

I'm not, either, though in recent years I've spent a
lot more daytime time snoozing or staring at the ceiling.

Did you see the recent "news" article that claimed, based
on dubious estimating, that your average American consumes
7000 Calories on Christmas? That I don't buy, but half that
would be a conservative estimate. I think I ate 2000 tops.

She brought her husband and a Key lime pie. Her greatest
utility was reminding Annie that I am in fact lucky to be
even at half power.

After Annie pricked Anne's balloon by calling our Christmas
dinner Episcopalian and WASPy (which it was), she turned
right around and made pot roast and yeast rolls for dinner,
under the impression that Dan, the doc's husband, ate only
white bread food. Turns out he'll eat anything, but the pot
roast was good, despite the unorthodox way of preparation -
browned a chuck roast, threw it in the crockpot with raw
onions uncut, raw celery, and raw carrots. Put it on to simmer
for 6 hours or so. Oh, yes, half a bottle of red wine, which
I had to remind her to boil up first, as crockpot heat would
not be sufficient to cook off the alcohol. Bay and thyme. The
only problem was large onions uncut and cooked on top of a
stew end up rotting up there instead of blending in, so there
was a temporary smell of sulfurous onion. Luckily, that
dissipated readily, and the food tasted pretty good.

I had a quarter pound of chuck fat, a roll, and a couple
carrots.

Not until an hour later. Food has begun to go through me
like a shot (I've always had that tendency), and so lots
of undigested capsaicin ends up down where it can cause
the most discomfort. I've taken to eating smaller doses
of hots. Speaking of which, Annie has gotten me a packet
of dried ghost chiles, which I haven't had the courage
to confront yet.

She also made me a pot of chili and asked if it was all
right. I said, pretty decent, Wick Fowler's. And so it was.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Wesley's Chili Pizza  V 4.0
 Categories: Main dish, Pizza, Original
      Yield: 1 14" pizza

      1 ea Basic pizza dough *
      2 c  Chili **
      6 oz Mild Longhorn Cheddar cheese
           (grated)
    1/4 c  Onion (very thinly sliced)
    1/2 ea Green Bell pepper (chopped)
      1 oz Ripe black olives, sliced
    1/2 lb Pork sausage
      9 ea Medium-sized mushrooms,
           Sliced

  *   Pizza dough is very subjective.  I won't attempt a recipe here,
      just make your favorite dough for 1 large pizza.
   **  NO BEANS IN THE CHILI!  If you must use canned, I recommend a 15
      oz. can of Wolf Brand Chili.  This will work very nicely.

  Directions: 1. Saute the sausage, mushrooms (stems and caps), and Bell
  pepper
  :       until very lightly browned. 2. Preheat oven to 500 deg F. 3.
  Roll pizza dough into a pizza-like shape, and add toppings in
  :       this order:
  :            Chili
  :            Sausage, 'shrooms, and peppers
  :            Olives
  :            Onions
  :            Cheese 4. Bake for 15-20 min. Use a pizza stone if
  you have one.  If
      you don't have one, get one!
