Her problem was kidney stone.  Our daughter has had both kidney and gall
stones.

It took Gail a couple of weeks to begin to feel normal enough to begin
the prep exercises for her knee replacement surgery.

The recipe below looks good to me -- but I think that unless we had a
crowd to feed, we'd get tired of it before it disappeared.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Cajun Bean Salad
 Categories: Salad, Beans, Cajun, News
      Yield: 5 Pounds
 
      2 cn 15oz black eyed-peas
      2 cn 15oz garbanzo beans
      2 cn 15oz pinto beans
      2 cn 15oz kidney beans
      1 cn 15oz whole kernel corn
      1 md Onion, chopped
      1    Green bell pepper, diced
      1    Red bell pepper, diced
      1    Yellow bell pepper, diced

MMMMM--------------------------DRESSING-------------------------------
      1 tb Dried Mexican chillies
           Ground up
      1 c  Canola oil
      4    Or more large cloves of
           Garlic, minced
    1/2 c  White vinegar
    2/3 c  Sugar
      2 ts Salt
      1 tb Ground black pepper
 
  In a colander, drain black-eyed peas, beans and corn and rinse well.
  Combine with onion and bell peppers.  Set aside in refrigerator while
  preparing the dressing.
  
  In a saucepan, combine ground chilies with canola oil and heat until
  peppers just start to darken.  Strain into a bowl; add garlic to the
  hot oil (you don't want to brown the garlic; just warm it).  Add
  vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper.
  
  Let dressing cool, then combine with bean mixture.  Serve chilled.
  This is great for a party, as it makes so many servings.
  
  Per Serving per 1/15 recipe: 506 calories, 20 g protein, 72 g
  carbohydrate, 17 g fat, 30 percent calories as fat, 0 mg cholesterol,
