Trust me - I druther have been there than fussing about the emergency room and
house with that freaking gall bladder inflammation. Friends and neighbours, I
have unloaded off of a motorcycle in the middle of a turn on a dirt race track
and slammed into the hay bales, I have been run over by an out-of-control race
car, but - I have never, ever felt pain like that. What's more, I don't want to
go through it again.

To that end, sometime north of 02 August I am going to have the gall bladder
excised and sent to a medical museum or whatever they do with such. It will be
the first time I have been cut into - except for the pacemaker, and they didn't
go all the way through.

Yepper it did. I started typing that in and it took me to Doc's main web site -
from which I can access the BBS side of things just fine. I had a bookmark on
my Bookmarks Toolbar that took me right to the BBS - I will, after I get back
home this afternoon, change that tab to "http://docsplace.tzo.com/default.htm"
which seems to work.

Tell me about it. I recently was afflicted the the 32nd anniversary of my Jack
Benny. Kids under 39 have no idea what that means ... in any key.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Nawlins-style Pain Perdu
 Categories: Breads, Eggs
      Yield: 2 Servings
 
      1    (2") piece vanilla bean
      3 lg Eggs
    1/4 c  Vanilla sugar
      1 ts Cinnamon
    1/2 ts Nutmeg
    1/2 c  Milk
      6 sl French bread; sliced 1/2" on
           - bias
      1 tb Oil
      1 tb Butter; + extra to serve
    1/4 c  Steen's cane syrup

  In a large shallow bowl whisk together eggs, sugar and
  spices until well-blended. Whisk in milk.
  
  In a nonstick sauté pan, heat half of oil and butter over
  medium heat.
  
  Dip bread slices in egg mixture until thoroughly moistened.
  Carefully transfer half of bread slices to pan and cook
  until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning once.
  
  Transfer to warmed plate. Repeat with remaining bread
  slices.
  
  To serve, dot with butter and drizzle with cane syrup.
