I believe that flesh-eating bacteria or somesuch iatrogenic
infection had something to do with it. He wrote me when it
was going on, but I seem to have lost the e-mails. Anyhow,
they had to excise a bunch of meat and parts of 4 ribs. He
complained that they didn't take away his beer belly while
they were at it.

The first time I was a little queasy, but I got used to it,
and furthermore, it had to be done.

So what do they do? They stop the train at the beginning of the
station, before the mess, and tell everyone to troop up to the
front to get off.

I went, had a bit of cheese souffle and a lot of salad
(which was made by another guest and was dairy-free and
very good). At least dessert had a sorbet choice.

It's gotten to the point where I have to write myself a
to-do list for such occasions. Sometimes I get it wrong
nevertheless and pack, say, 2 weeks' medication rather
than 3.

---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v7.04

      Title: Easy Freezer Strawberry Sorbet
 Categories: Desserts, Ice cream
   Servings:  6

      2 pk Unflavored gelatin   
      1 c  Sugar
      3 c  Water
      1 qt Pureed strawberries
           - about 3 pints fresh
      1 c  Cranberry juice cocktail
    1/4 c  Fresh squeezed lemon juice

  Combine gelatin and sugar in a medium saucepan; stir in water. Let stand
  2 min.  Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until gelatin dissolves.
  Remove from heat; cool. Stir in strawberry puree and remaining
  ingredients. Pour into a 13x9 pan. Cover and freeze 8 hr or overnight.
  Spoon about 1/4 of frozen mixture into the container of a blender or food
  processor. Top with lid and process until smooth. Return to pan. Repeat
  until all the mixture has been processed. Return pan to freezer and freeze
  for 4 hr or until firm.  Let stand at room temperature 15-20 min
  before serving. If you have an ice cream freezer, at * pour into container
  and follow manufacturer's instructions. Source unknown
