DS> As you know, Gail's favorite (almost only) fish is salmon. On our
DS> trip to Ireland last summer, she ended up avoiding salmon halfway
DS> through. There was usually smoked salmon for breakfast, some sort of
DS> cooked salmon for lunch or dinner, etc. So after about a week -- she
DS> just had to switch to other things.

Salmon is a strong and distinct flavor, and I'd get tired
of it after a few such meals. On the other hand, beef is a
strong and distinct flavor, and I don't get tired of it,
ever; I seem to recall doing the obvious experiment for the
benefit of the doubters on this echo, a decade or more ago,
and though I essentially ate just a pound or two of beef a
day and nothing else for a couple weeks, I looked forward
to every meal. The experiment was to have lasted a month,
but I gave up early not because I was tired of beef, but
because my pocketbook was feeling abused.

 DS> Title: Fire Balls

Speaking of which, Fire Bull, the grilled meat place in
Peabody where we once went during an echo picnic, is no
more. Too bad, but I hadn't been there in quite a while,
and when I went past with a friend, it was turned into an
Irish pub or something like that.

 DS> 12 oz Jalape+o peppers, canned

This is how the nya character comes out after many
translations.

DS> 4. Using a lightly greased skillet, brown sausage balls until the
DS> sausage is thoroughly cooked, turning several times.

I'd be inclined to deep-fry these or at least shallow-fry
them in oil to come up at least halfway - a lightly greased
skillet wouldn't provide enough heat contact for me to be
comfortable, plus it would take a lot longer to brown the
things on all sides.

DS> that I could keep about one thousand pictures on my current camera
 DS> with its
 DS> inserted SD card.
RH> How many years worth of pictures is that? Used to, we'd download and
RH> print a lot; now most of them stay on the card for years and then go
RH> into some sort of digital files.

Lilli, who takes a lot of photos, says that it's better to
keep one's pics on the card than on the computer, but I don't
believe that, because there are two additional possibilities
for disaster in her way - the card can go bad, and I figure
all portable storage is dodgier than most stationary; but
also, the camera can get lifted just like that, whereas a
computer (especially a desktop) is I figure somewhat less
stealable.

DS> Since I don't have a color printer, I just download them to my
DS> computer for later viewing. I underestimated the number my card will
DS> hold. Yesterday I transferred 19 spring cherry blossum pictures to my
DS> computer and based on the SD card size and the space those 19 used
DS> there, I now estimate that the card would hold about 7500 pictures.
DS> I've never had it get much above 400. If we are on a trip, main thing
DS> is to make sure that I have spare batteries and a battery charger.

I'm using Annie's camera (not very well, I may add - I did a
lot better with the 1 or 2 Megapixel one that I used to borrow).
Anyhow, the card inside is 4 Gig, and I can get 2000 pictures
on it, because I have set the camera to a high resolution, with
each shot using up 2 Meg.

DS> BTW, for some reason neither my message nor your reply are shown in
DS> the messages display at Docsplace, although others I uploaded in the
DS> same package are shown on the listing. Ditto with some of Michael's
 DS> messages. His 511,
DS> 512 and 513 are there but 514 and 515 are not. Considering that I
DS> believe he uploads his REP packet to Docsplace -- even more strange,
DS> since they obviously got out from there since I received them here.

So those numbers come in handy after all once in a while.
