The ice cream diet always appeals on some level but fails
to move me, or perhaps moves me too much, on another.

Oh, maybe. There are other benefits to lactose - a higher
tolerance for mistakes that would dry out the product (such
as overbaking and overstorage) and the ability to circumvent
ingredients lists, allowing sugar to be spread out over
several ingredients rather than staying #1 on the roster.

I figure the driverless cars have been programmed by Asperger
programmers, each focusing too strongly on a different part of
the elephant, and the 11 accidents that they have just now
acknowledged are results of some issue not addressed, and as
more Aspies get added to the mix, the loopholes will gradually
close. Unfortunately, my brother is only one such, and there
is not an army of helpers in the car when he drives.

Cream of broccoli
categories: potentially vegetarian, dairy, soup
servings: 6 to 8

1 kg broccoli florets
4 Tb butter
1 lg russet potato, cubed
1 lg yellow onion, diced roughly
5 c chicken stock (vegetable stock works too)
1 c cream
12 strips streaky bacon, fried, and cubed as topping
- opt

Melt butter in pan till sizzling. Add onions and fry till
translucent, about 2 min on medium-high heat. Add broccoli
and potato, fry till softened, about 1 min.

Add stock, and boil till broccoli and potato are mushy.

Blend the entire thing, transfer to a soup pot, and melt
cream into soup.

Serve with as much bacon as you like.
