I found myself semi-unexpectedly back in town, owing to
a scheduling glitch and severe weather in the midwest
messing up some of my flights, and I considered having my
brother drive up to Olney sometime, but we instead found
closer entertainments. Hence, I managed to get my glasses
(still haven't adjusted and can't read without difficulty)
and the gift that I'd forgotten of Annie's.

I did manage to get on those 787 flights (the electrochromic
windows are kind of neat), but some of the side trips had to
be altered or rescheduled, mostly at the airline's expense;
had to spend 37500 extra miles for a detour, as well, but
that was owing to my stubbornness or idiocy, no fault of the
airline or the weather.

The company should thank Clean Dave, who introduced me to it.
It has subsequently relieved me of perhaps a thousand of my
dollars (over the space of a decade or more), but I've got
quite a number of decent steaks out of it.

I forget who it was, but there was a pretty well known chef
interviewed not so long ago, and after being asked about his
favorite places to eat and giving all these high-falutin'
names, he said that for value for the money he goes to
Texas Roadhouse.

I'd just omit the zucchini altogether and come up with a
sort of creole corn.

The Roys' corn maque choux
categories: creole, Louisiana, New York, side, starch
serves:  4 to 6

8 ears shucked fresh corn
2 Tb oil
2 Tb sweet butter
3/4 c onion; diced
1/4 c red bell pepper; diced
3/4 c ripe tomatoes; diced
;salt and cayenne

Cut corn from cobs and scrape cobs to collect milk.
Heat oil and butter in a skillet. Combine all ingredients
except salt and pepper. Stir. Reduce heat to low and cook
1 hr, stirring occasionally. Season to taste.
