I realize I am somewhat of a rarity in still carrying cash... I used to
carry even more, before I started running restaurant purchases through
my Open Road cards that give 2% back on them...

Once in while I've had a special promotion that gave that sort of
rebate, but generally not.  I'd just as soon pay cash for the groceries,
anyway...

The best I get is 2% regularly (up to a limit) on restaurants and
gasoline... another card gives me 1% on everything, with an additional
4% on specific short-term categories (which generally don't apply to me
anyway)... With BJ's gas, running it through the card gives me 2% off
the member prices which are already lower than other places I'd even
consider getting gas... and currently, I can get an additional 5c off
per gallon if I make a purchase inside the store first that day... ;)  I
have been looking at the card that AARP is offering, with decent rebates
on things I'd be using, but so far haven't taken the leap to add yet
another card to the wallet...  :)
