Dad had an uncle who was career Navy & tried to encourage him to do
likewise. It wasn't going to happpen as Dad wanted to go to college and
get a white collar job.

Same as if I'd been an exchange student while in high school I would
have graduated a year late & not met Steve. I'd applied, was the #2
choice, #1 didn't go. The Rotary had a bad experience when they'd
sponsored one some years before (took them 5 years to decide to try
again) so they dropped it when #1 backed out. I eventually did live in
the country of my choice, but as a married mom of 2, Army wife. (G)

There are 5 of us, 7 years from the oldest to youngest. During the
summers, my older brother got a clerical job at a boy scout camp, made
cooking a bit easier for me (didn't have to deal with his constant
criticism of my cooking).
