At whose expense, and what's the threshold for

At least for me, a certain amount of active concentration
has been required for any facsimile of focus.

Last night it was 0225, but that was because my friend Jim
was proving to me his hypothesis that low-alcohol wine
(to him that means 11.5 percent alcohol or less) can be
drunk in arbitrarily large quantities for an arbitrarily
long time.

Something like that, and that brings us back to the
concentration being necessary for focus thing.

I was surprised at what they do to prescribe bifocals - on
top of the distance vision script they just slap a couple
diopter undercorrection on for the near vision, no measuring
at all.

I always wondered what that thing was up there.

Yep. Even made one where I shut off the alarm, being almost
awake. Right - when I woke fully, it was an hour later.

Funny thing is that it appears that my other senses have
been if anything sharpened, in the sense that in the before
days a larger percentage of my processing power must have
gone to make sense of the visual stimuli, so now more
resources can be given to paying attention to other senses.

It would probably take about 2 1/2 hearings to do so.

Chicken and rice (HAV YEV PILAF)
cat: Armenian, main
servings: 4 to 6

1 (3 to 3 1/2 lb) chicken, cut up
1/4 c olive oil
2 onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, mashed
1 c rice
2 Tb tomato paste, mixed in 3 c water
1/4 c parsley, chopped
salt, pepper to taste

Brown chicken pieces in hot olive oil in large skillet
with cover. Brown onions and garlic. Lower heat, add rice
and tomato paste which has already been mixed with water.
Add seasonings, stir, and simmer over low heat (appx.
45 min) covered, until chicken is tender.
