Sometimes seems that way. Then you see/hear about people who have so
many animals that they neglect to the point of them having to be
confiscated. Unfortunately most of them then have to be put down. There
was a story in today's paper about one person having about 150 various
farm animals, as well as a good number of cats and dogs. Authorities had
tried to work with this person for some time but ended up taking the
animals this week.

Yes, as they were mostly outdoor pets and got a good bit of exercise.
Cats were also "hired" for mousekeeping so they got extra protein there.

I'll match with a "who are they (we) trying to kid?" reaction from those
patrons of such places.

No, but threaten a heart attack or stroke while in their 30s might scare
them. Then too, some might not live long enough to reach their 30s.

IIRC, I've got some recipies for it in some of my Mennonite or Amish
cook books.

 ML> 1/4 ts cumin

Not one I'd make, tho I'd use parts of it. For sure, I'd not have as
much salt as both a bullion cube AND another teaspoon's worth.
