====================================================================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> The import store might be somewhere else in the region, but I've
NB> not NB>> tried to track it down... :)

RH> No need to, unless you need the one thing that can only be found in
RH> that particular store. With Amazon and other, similar sites, a lot of
RH> stores that sold hard to find items went out of business.

 NB> I tend to prefer brick-and-mortar stores, generally, when/if I'm ready

I do too, and that's partly how we found out once that a credit card was
compromised. Some rather high charges were put on for the on line
version of a store I shop in person. There were also high charges for a
sporting goods store, nothing either of us spends much time or money in.

NB> to do any shopping (although I will use mail-order as well for some

I do for some sewing supplies, partly because of the availability is
there, not in stores.

NB> things)... a quick check of the Yellow Pages does show an Irish
NB> Imports store tucked into the Greece Ridge complex, so that may be
 NB> where they
 NB> moved to... ;)

Have to check them out--how's your supply of Irish foods?

NB> bought NB>> an EZ Pass, but considered it briefly from time to
NB> time... Maybe if NB>> I'd needed a toll road or bridge regularly as
NB> part of my day-to-day NB>> trekkings, or some such... but those tend
NB> to be few and far between NB>> for me... ;)

RH> We bought the NY EZ Pass some years ago, I think while we were still
RH> in GA. It's a help with travel, not having to come up with the cash for
RH> the various tolls on bridges, roads, etc, especially those roads that
RH> toll you every few miles. With the travel we've done, especially to
RH> visit family, it has been to our advantage to use it.

NB> The bridges are what usually get me thinking that I really might like
NB> to have the EZPass... But I only tend to encounter them once in every
 NB> few
NB> years, sometimes less often... depending on where I'm headed, and what
NB> sorts of alternate routes there might be... :)

Heading up to see my aunts in NJ, the most direct way is via some toll
bridges and roads so we use them. Then to get up to NY from NJ, we
generally hit the Thruway for a bit. If we time it right, we can have
supper in Kingston, after getting off the Thruway.

NB> NB>> Lots of things to do still.. ;) Maybe he just couldn't resist
 NB> NB>> getting another white coconut... (G)

RH> I think he just needs to slow down a bit and think about what he wants
RH> to use it for, then use it. This house is a never ending series of
RH> projects, some large, some small, that divert his mind from thinking
RH> about things like the coconut--unless he's thinking about it while
RH> working on something else. (G)

NB> You just never know... :)

Nope--he replaced the shades in the kitchen with mini blinds over the
last couple of days. A set on the door, a single window and then the bay
window with 2 smaller flanking side windows.

NB> room later. RH>> That's done, I've got more room in the pantry and
 NB> kitchen as a whole. NB>> Useful job... :)

RH> Yes, as in now I know what's available for more canning. I want to see
RH> about getting more tomatoes this week end to make into sauce.

NB> And hopefully the weather will cooperate... :)

Yes, but we decided not to make sauce this year. I need to get a super
deal on tomatoes in quantity to make it worth my time and effort, plus
I've got other projects that are of a higher priority at present.

NB> RH>> We are; I've not done the freezer yet but getting other projects
NB> done RH>> that will make access to it easier.
NB> NB>> That will come... and then you'll be set for stocking for the
 NB> winter NB>> there, too... :)

RH> Yes, we loaned out one larger cooler so I'm half waiting until it
RH> comes back. Plus, I've got a sewing job I'd like to have done by the
RH> end of the month, so always something to keep me busy.

NB> Good reasons to focus elsewhere for the moment... :) Santa wants his
NB> Halloween shirt well in advance of the season...? Or is he hoping for
 NB> more than one...? :)

He only gave me the fabric for one halloween shirt. Actual construction
will start Monday.
NB> the NB>> gas grill over the charcoal... and thus got out of practice
 NB> using NB>> charcoal... :)

RH> Exactly! Gas is easier for me to use, much less fuss and bother in the
RH> set up. Plus, foods cook quicker on it than they do on charcoal.

NB> So if you are doing things on a regular basis, gas works best... :)

RH> I pulled a couple of chicken leq quarters out of the freezer today to
RH> marinade Brooks style, then grill on Saturday.

NB> Nice start for your meal for Saturday... :)

They were good; Steve indirect grilled them. Sides were brown rice and
fresh broccoli, dessert was mint chocolate chip ice cream.

NB> NB>> Ours are definitely starting to turn now... still a lot of
NB> green, NB>> but fall is clearly coming... :)

RH> My favorite time of year--mid September to late October.

NB> I think my favorite is spring... but this is a close second... :)

Too much pollen in the air for spring to be my favorite. (G)

NB> say... And sunny... No NB>> chance suggested for rain until
 NB> Saturday...

RH> I think they're saying next Tuesday for our next chance of rain. The
RH> tropical systems out there right now will probably end up as "fish
RH> storms" so we won't get rain out of them.

NB> Probably just as well... ;) Saturday's promised rain is supposed to
NB> bring in another cold front... Sunday being a repeat of the last one,
NB> except for sunny... then temps back into the 70s for next week...

We'll have 70s after the first part of the week too--nice!

NB> can pick. NB>> And then figure out how many green tomatoes you'll
NB> have for putting up NB>> at the end of the season... :) So, your
NB> tomato plants did decently NB>> this year despite your absence...?
 NB> ;)

RH> Most of the time we were gone, the weather was too hot for the tomato
RH> plants. They started putting out fruit the week before we came back so
 RH> we're enjoying it. Hopefully they'll keep going for a few more weeks;
RH> I don't think we'll have many green ones to do much of anything with
 RH> when the season ends.

NB> Depends on how long the season hangs on... :)

Hopefully until late October or early November.

Catch you later,
Ruth
