Back in the 60s, when Vegas was still a HUGE money laundry, my friends and I 
would regularly (no more than 6 weeks between trips) make the trek from Lost 
Angeleeze -- four of five of use splitting gas (30c or less/gal) and a motel 
room downtown. Steak & eggs w/tatties, toast and coffee was (typically) 79c. 
The pig-out buffets at the Sands or Tropicana were <$2.00 (I seem to remember 
$1.49). And I saw all the members of the "Rat Pack" at various times for a two 
drink minimum (no cover). Not to mention up and comers like Pete Barbuti, 
Charlie Callas, and George Carlin in various lounges - no cover, no minimum.

Then Greenspan started his crusade to "clean up" Las Vegas and a seismic shift 
happened.

      Title: Martian Death Sauce (for Mars, the Habanero-Orange Planet)
 Categories: Sauces, Condiments, Chilies, Booze, Citrus
      Yield: 1 Cup
 
     25    (or so) Habanero chilies
      2 oz Rum
      2 tb Applesauce
      2 ts Limeade Concentrate
      2 ts Dry mustard
    1/4 ts Ground allspice
    1/2 ts Salt
 
  Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until
  it appears to resemble smooth, orange (and lethal)
  applesauce!
  
  This is a variation of a Calypso Sauce that I saw on the
  internet somewhere. It uses rum instead of vinegar because
  a Brazilian buddy of mine recommended that I give it a
  try.
  
  This stuff was 'mui caliente' as described by a friend who
  is learning Spanish and a fellow chile head. I find it a
  potent condiment, to say the least!
