According to Dr. Bosland's Chile Pepper Institute at UNM capsicums will cross

RH> Only other thing we had in that plot was tomatoes.

I don't think that 'maters and peppers will cross. But, being members of the
nightshade family, both are subject to the same plant diseases like the
tobacco mosaic virus, black root rot, and potato virus.

If I do go it will be the result of steady work and thrift give the odds
against hitting a big winner. And the current odds against collecting the
payoff in Illinois.

 DD>   8<------ EDIT ------>B

RH> Mom and Dad were teens in the 30's and 40s so JC and Elvis were
RH> "modern RH> music" for them. They were quite settled down by the time
RH> those guys RH> hit the big time.

IOW your parents were *very* conservative.

DD> My grandmother was berating rock & roll and the "modern" music that
DD> "kids" listen to in general when my mother reminded her of Marzy
DD> Doats, Three Itty Fishies, Open The Door Richard and others that were
DD> popular in the thirties and forties, especially the duo of Skim & Slam
DD> .... and offered to go deeper into history.

RH> We didn't know that much about what my folks listened to while growing
RH> up except to know some of it was the big band era. Pop music, like what
RH> you listed above, was known, but not really known what era it was from
RH> (other than not ours), and we didn't really care. I do recall hearing
RH> "Open the Door Richard" once; somehow a recording of it had gotten
RH> mixed into the kid stuff we listened to when we were young. Don't
RH> recall anything of what it was about tho.

My parents get hitched in '39, so grew up in the swing & big band era. My mom
was a pretty good piano picker. She ditched a scholarship to Juilliard and a
minor concert schedule to marry my ol' man. According to the local busybodies
I was supposed to be born about six months after the wedding. But, I fooled
'em by waiting nearly three years to enter the world.

DD> My only external indication of service is visible when I wear short
DD> sleeve T shirts. I have an anchor tattooed on my right bicep.

RH> Steve didn't get any tatoos.

DD> I sort of wish I hadn't. Especially the "babe" on my left arm. But,
DD> mine are mild compared to some of the professionally done things I am
DD> seeing on young people these days. Or the jailhouse tattoos.

RH> They can be removed, if you want to got thru the pain and expense of
 RH> the process.

I got a price on that - at $100/sq in (then) I was looking at over 2K. I
decided I can buy a LOT of long sleeve shirts if it ever comes to that.
Fortunately I was astute enough to not get neck, face or hand tattoos.
