Actually, he had a good deal of life (and spunk) left in him... he lived
for another 4 years.  Another cat, Cougar, recently abandoned when the
family next door moved away, had been trying to get us to adopt him, and
we'd been resisting, telling him we didn't have room for any more cats. 
When we brought Ming home, Cougar tried to pull rank and claim the
space, but Ming knew his place, and fought him down... a few days/weeks
later, Cougar was adopted by another family, a couple of houses down the
street... Forever after, if Ming got loose, he'd swagger down the street
to teach that youngster his comeuppance yet again... we knew where to
find him... ;)  But the other two here got along just fine with him from
the beginning.  :)

If he's smart enough to figure out you are the new food provider, that
should anchor him well enough... ;)  Probably check out the old place a
time or two but come back to the new feeding station...  ;)

Of course, someone else might adopt him in the meantime...  :)
