Ärende: Nuts!
=============
Hi Janis,

>> ago that Grandpa and Uncle Ralph were the the same way... Uncle Ralph
>> used to hold up the chicken piece to the light to see how much fat was
>> in that piece. That always cracked me up since I love chicken.

JK> > I think I'd crack up too, if I saw it. Sounds like a quirky family
 JK> trait > that's now into a 3rd generation.

JK> Sure does though not sure how quirky it is (g) I guess they just
JK> didn't like fatty meats at all.

I can see that, but holding a piece of meat up to the light to check for
fat isn't common practice. Most or the time fat cooks out of meat so a
piece that was fatty as raw meat won't have as much when cooked.
Admittedly there are exceptions, and chicken isn't that fatty to begin
with.

>> geez, she didn't drink coffee or tea much come to think of it, except
>> for that small amount of coffee in the morning. I generally drink

JK> > Sounds like my MIL, she only has about half a cup of coffee in the
 JK> > morning.

JK> Mom never like coffee much I think.

I'm not sure what my MIL's reasoning for a half cup is. I don't like
coffee so don't drink it--problem solved.

>> maybe two or three cups of coffee during the day.. sometimes I'll have
>> a cup of tea later in the evening.

JK> > I'll start the day with hot tea. Sometimes I'll have a 2nd cup in
JK> cold > weather, iced tea in hot weather. Usually tho, I avoid caffiene
 JK> after > about 7 pm.

JK> If I'm really tired at night and still have work to do, I'll have a
JK> cup of coffee as long as it's before 9pm.. after that it bothers my
 JK> sleeping.

I know, if I'm really tired it won't bother me but other times I'll feel
like I'm taking hours to get to sleep.

JK> > I need a bit of sweetening, but have cut back quite a bit from what
 JK> I > used to put in.

 JK> I can understand that.

And doing better healthwise. My morning blood glucose numbers were a bit
higher while traveling but seem to be settling down again now that we're
home.

>> We find them at Wegman's generally, in their tea section. I don't
>> think we've ever been to a tea specialty shop.

JK> > We went to a specialty tea shop once when we were in Germany, trying
JK> to > (and did) find something close to what we'd bought in
JK> Switzerland. It's > been years since we had any of that so we decided
JK> to try to find some > again; we think we were successful again. It's a
 JK> very fruity tasting
 JK> > tea.

JK> That sounds like a nice one.

It is, it's been a favorite ever since we found it.

>> > We'll be up in NY in October.....................

>> Yep, maybe you can swing by here.

JK> > We can try, have to co-ordinate as time gets closer.

JK> Understand.. life gets crazy here sometimes as well. This week my
JK> daughter's son leaves for college (I'm still in shock over that (g))
JK> so we'll be keeping his younger brothers over here while my daughter
JK> works and gets him set up.

Where is he going? One of the families in our church took their oldest
child (daughter) to college a couple of weeks ago. Mom seems to be
adjusting OK. (G)

JK> > I think it depends on what's being stored. Maybe a mix of slide outs
JK> and > conventional cabinets would work.

JK> Yes, over here it would have worked better if some of the lower
 JK> cabinets were conventional cabinets.

Can they be reconverted?

>> It's still impractical for me (and belive me she had all sorts of
>> variations of height, etc.) because you can only fit one large toy on
>> a slide out.. Maybe over here it's a matter of the number of cabinets,
>> I'm not sure :):)

JK> > I'd have to play around with a configuration to fit my (as of now,
 JK> > hypothetical) kitchen.

JK> Yep, that's the fun for sure. You know what sizes and heights, etc.
 JK> you need.

Yes, and it's a lot of quirky things. Got a frozen fruit (look up
Yo-nanas) sorta ice cream maker; ours isn't that brand but does the same
thing, while out west.
