We had them all the way up thru junior high as part of standard
instruction.

In public school, anyway. Challenger (and other private schools) don't
have to so the kids actually learn to think for themselves.

True, but carrying heavy dishes, putting up with rude customers, etc
makes for a short career, no matter how good tips are. Besides, now you
are expected to count them as part of your income so your employer
doesn't pay you even minimum wage in a lot of places. Not a job I'd
want.

-> That's why, in buffet places, there've been times I've not used the top

It'll make you think twice next time you go to a buffet.
