Yep, pretty much. More pressure, more heat, less water.
I don't care for the results.

As I boil grain rather than steaming it, that's not the issue
for me; but I don't do "that" kind of cooking except on rare
occasions, when the nuke and some cheap plastic wrap do an
okay job, with the defects fixable by a small investment of
attention.

      Title: Microwave Steamed Pudding
 Categories: baking, british, desserts, puddings
      Yield: 4 servings

    100 g  self-raising flour; or subst
           - 25 g with cocoa
    100 g  Butter; softened
    100 g  caster sugar
      2 md eggs
           lemon or orange zest;
           -grated, optional

----------------------------to finish add one of----------------------------
      3 tb jam or marmalade
      3 tb golden syrup
      3 tb stewed fruit; (apples or
           -rhubarb)

----------------------------for chocolate sponge----------------------------
    100 g  Dark chocolate; up to
           -double; grated

1 Lightly butter and flour a 900 ml to 1.2 litre (1.5 to 2 pt) pudding
basin. Put all ingredients into food processor and blitz till smooth. If
necessary, a few drops of milk to give a smooth consistency.

2 Sit the flavour of your choice in the bottom of the basin and spoon the
sponge mixture on top. Cover with cling film, and pierce with a knife.

3 For a 500 watt m/w cook on high for 4m30 to 5 mins or till skewer comes
out clean. For every 100 w increased power, reduce cooking time by 15 secs.

4 Turn out and enjoy.

Notes Grated zest could go with syrup and or chocolate, for example. For
chocolate substitute some cocoa for part of the flour and add grated
chocolate into mix.
