The irrationality probably did foster that sort of thinking... just to
maintain some sort of mental order for yourself... I developed a sort of
maturity, from having to mother my mother and thereby also my siblings,
but not necessarily a particularly wise maturity, since it didn't help
me when I had a child of my own... ;)

Perspective I'd agree is part of wisdom, maybe some detachment... not
stoicism, nor necessarily equanimity...  Although, it might produce some
of the latter... Dunno how much wisdom I've acquired over the years...
I've been accused of more than I lay claim to...

Whether or not that might be a reasonable expectation... I guess it goes
along with expecting higher class amenities in First Class...

Right.  Unless it were his favorite food...  Of course, he might be
traveling in his uncle's private plane, too...  ;)

Hmmm...  that does call into question some of the assumptions, doesn't
it...  :)   Interesting summer job, to be sure...
