That's true for nearly any endeavour ... except lawyering where just a 
couple of well-off clients or an election can set you up for life.

The reason they closed the retail operation the first time is that they 
were in a location that was too up-market. And they didn't realise that 
their lease gave the landlord a piece of their pie ... at least they 
didn't realise it in time for some creative bookkeeping. Also, their 
storefront was two doors down from a Smash-burger location.

Well, according the the proclamation issued by one of our governors who 
managed to stay out of FCI Terre Haute, Springfield is "The Chilli 
Capitol of the Civilised Universe".

I can just about name who the winners will be in each and every - and 
the only poll winner in the food category I vote for is Gabatoni's 
Pizza. But, Gabby's does have really good pizza -- consistently.

Of course I am a bit irreverent about some of my picks. Like under the 
category "Best Place For a First Date" I suggested Motel 6.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Dave's Pizza Sauce
 Categories: Sauces, Vegetables, Herbs, Chilies
      Yield: 1 pint plus

    3/4 c  Chopped onion
    1/2 c  Chopped bell pepper
      2 cl Garlic; minced
      1 tb Olive oil
 14 1/2 oz Can diced tomatoes
      8 oz Can tomato sauce *
      1    Turkish bay leaf
      1 tb Snipped fresh basil
           +=OR=+
      1 ts Dried basil; crushed 
      1 tb Snipped fresh oregano
           +=OR=+
      1 ts Dried oregano; crushed 
      1 ts Fennel seed; crushed
    1/2 ts Sugar (opt)
    1/2 ts Red (cayenne) pepper
    1/2 ts Chilli spice mix

  * For a really zippy sauce use El Pato tomato sauce, 
  available in the Latino aisle of many markets.
     
  Cook onion garlic and bell pepper in oil. Stir in
  remaining ingredients. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat;
  simmer, uncovered, for 35 to 40 minutes or to desired
  consistency, stirring occasionally. Discard bay leaf.

  Makes about 2 1/2 cups
