==============
Hi Ruth,

-> RH> No idea what to call it. It has blocks that aren't quite log cabin
-> RH> interspersed with solid blocks. It's possible the guy who owned the
-> RH> house made it up.

-> Courthouse Steps or Pineapple Welcome possibly? Could be one of those,
-> with an alternating solid block.

 RH> I've started machine-sewing it together.  I'll have to shoot you a
 RH> picture. It's all cotton velveteens, probably meant as upholstry.
 RH> Nothing quite matches up size-wise.

A real fun time then. I'm hoping to get bact tomorrow to the sewing that
was put on hold last week.

-> RH> I generally go for oatmeal this time of year. It's hot and quick
 RH> and
-> RH> doesn't require me to gag down an egg. Eggs and I don't mix first
-> RH> thing in the morning.

-> I did a lot of grab and go type stuff the last few days. Toss some
bread into the toaster, grab a cup of yogurt and a few apricots, use
theKeurig for tea,..............you get the picture. We'll get to the
scrapple some time this week end.

-> RH> Gee I wonder why. I generally suck down the oatmeal and a big
coffee, brush my teeth and head out the door.

I could have done the oatmeal thing with my tea but just didn't feel
like going to the fuss, even of the quick stuff. With the toast and
fruit, I could grab a bite, do something else that needed doing before
heading out, get another bite in, etc. I used some of the time to make a
lunch to take with me--not a fancy one but one that would give me a
balance of carbs and protein.

-> RH> Good idea. They'll help. He probably should have had them before
 RH> his back really went south.

-> Should have, but they will have to wait now until the appointment is
-> rescheduled. He was down in Raleigh, in the hospital, the day he was
-> supposed to get the orthotics.

 RH> I was supposed to get a lumbar puncture years ago and had emergency
 RH> surgery that day instead for something unrelated to the MS. It
 RH> happens.

I know; I've had the apple cart upset too many times to know the number,
over the years. Anyway, the orthotics reschedule is tomorrow.

-> RH> If it's being kept in the family it doesn't matter at all. Besides,
-> RH> perfection is boring. Some of my favorite pieces have some form of
->  RH> old damage.

-> Makes you more curious about their history.

 RH> It tells you the piece isn't a repro, at the least. Reproductions are
 RH> generally perfect.  Old items often have some sort of wear or damage;
 RH> perfection in an antique is suspicious, at least to me.

I think I'd be suspicious too. Old is supposed to look old. (G)

-> -> RH> We even have an independant Judaica store in the next town over.
-> RH> The Christian book stores I know of closed down, but that place is
->  RH> still going.

-> -> Sounds like it would be an interesting place to visit.

-> RH> It is, if you're not used to having it around.

-> I've not been in one so would have fun exploring it.

 RH> The book section might be especially useful.

That, and I'd check out the jewelry. Looking to replace several pieces
or get components and use chains I already have.

-> RH> You just benefited from my bargain hound ways. Might that be part
 RH> of it? I've got a baggie of random guy stuff started again. Some
 of it is things that have been hiding here for years.

-> Sounds interesting.

 RH> I found one late 40s/early 50s tie bar I'd totally forgotten about,
 RH> among other things.

We don't have that problem--having to move every so often makes us go
thru and sort/toss/keep..............................

-> Have to do some looking, now that things are semi settling down again. I
-> made a beef stew for supper but Steve made the biscuits to go with it.
-> Stew used crushed tomatoes as part of the liquid; veggies used in it
-> were onions, potatoes, carrots, celery, mushrooms and parsnips. Ended up
-> with enough to put a couple of boxes into the freezer for future meals.

 RH> Good move.  Tonight's dinner was a mis-steak.  The supermarket had a
 RH> pile of
 RH> porterhouse on unadvertised special. I think they got some rib roasts
 RH> or something above and beyond what they needed for Christmas and cut
 RH> them up into steaks. Into the broiler it went. It was marked less
 RH> than half the usual price. Broiled it rare and down the hatch with a
 RH> side salad and the fries we almost never eat.

Good deal! We had the scrapple and eggs for lunch yesterday, pizza for
supper last night. Life Group lunch was sausage sliders, salad, chips
and cupcakes. I traded cooking weeks so will cook next week instead of
doing so this week, as is the normal rotation.

Catch you later,
Ruth
