It explains what happened to me in 2004. I suspected a stroke at the
time, but was told it was something else. Turns out I was right. I would
rather have been wrong.

I talked it over with the doctor. We are going to try a low dose of
Atorvastatin (generic Lipitor), about 1/4 the usual dose. If I can
tolerate it and it works to cut the LDL back, good. If it causes the
same problems, I'll discontinue it again.

The earlier loss was something that happened to the eye after laser
surgery. At the time, I was told is was something like a stroke in the
retina. Later, a retinal neuopathist told me it was actually something
that happened to the optic nerve. That did not affect the brain. This
one did not affect the eyes, but the brain. The result is the same.

Thank you. It will take time to see what vision may come back. I will
also be waiting to have more appointments, both with a
neuro-opthalmologist and a cardiologist. I don't know what other
appointments at the VA hospital will be needed. I'll know more as time
goes on.
