======================
I've been plugging this box into 220/240 current for much of the
winter, and there's enough current leakage so that if I put more
sensitive parts of my anatomy (my wrists, that is) in contact
with the laptop, I get a discernible current going through me -
which has made me abandon my general practice of computing
barefoot. I'm at a fancy glass and metal desk ostensibly looking
up where to go while Lilli snoozes away, and I've been doing
amusing experiments with grounding and ungrounding myself -
when I put my bare foot on the metal leg of the desk, I get a
serious buzz on, as it were. Slippers with a layer of foam
between me and the floor is the current configuration of choice.

It hasn't been this bad in a while - at the Conrad in Singapore,
the mains were well enough regulated so this box wasn't electrically
overtaxed at all. Here at an equally fancy place in rural Thailand,
it's clear that they're making up for reliability issues by pumping
extra juice when it's available. I don't anticipate being fried
unless I forget to keep some distance between me and earth.

ML> The estimable Leopard Frog Tribe Pinotage referred to above
ML> was a quite nice South African offering. Seems that the
ML> industry is well grown up there, and after apartheid, I feel
 ML> unguilty about supporting it.
DD> That's not one I would have bought on the name - but, perhaps on the
 DD> label graphics.

It's a cool little emblem, isn't it. I'm hard-hearted enough
to think it's a picture of a somewhat squashed frog.

DD> As to why confuser go crazy from time to time and for no special
DD> reason - I just put it down to the perversity of machines.

I have long wondered if the misbehavior indicates the presence
of an evil spirit, in the malware sense, that lives in almost
everyone's computer and is so melded into the operating system
that none of the antivirus software is even aware of it. I
started entertaining this idea sometime in the 1990s.

 DD> You want hard-boiled?

You got hard-boiled.

=

DD> tried to log in to the scheduler so I could print out my work schedule
DD> for the upcoming week. And was told I had an invalid password or user
DD> name. Multiple times. As I am aware that you can be classed as a
DD> dunderhead if you keep repeating the same actions and expecting
DD> different results I gave it up. Came back the next day to log on to
DD> the overall system so that it could reject my password and then I
DD> could re-set the dratted thing. HAH! I was in like a porch climber
DD> with the password that had been kicked out the day before.

Some security module got switched out and then switched back
in. Or its database.

DD> And this is a multi-billion dollar company not a hobby BBS that is run
 DD> for sh!+$ & giggles.

Software engineers are not always quite so clever as they
think they are and certainly never so much as they put on
their resumes.

Not certain what this title means, perhaps it has something
to do with the author of the recipe. It doesn't look too
supremo to me, sort of averageo.
