People really seem to knock hospital food, often with justification.
While Gail was having her last surgical procedure to replace a stent for
her kidney stone, I went to the cafeteria and had lunch.  One of the
offerings sounded decent so I tried it.  I think that they called it
beef ragu, described as beef stew with carrots, mushrooms and wine
served over bow tie noodles.  To start with the noodles were cold.  The
sauce had a decent flavor, but the cubes of beef were *tough*!  Should
have cooked for another hour at least.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: SPICY BEEF PITAS
 Categories: Sandwich
      Yield: 4 Servings
 
      1 lb Thinly sliced cooked
           -roast beef
    1/2 c  Picante sauce
    1/3 c  Red-wine vinegar
    1/4 c  Olive oil
      1 tb Snipped fresh cilantro
    1/8 ts Garlic powder
    1/8 ts Cracked black pepper
      4 lg Pita bread rounds
           Chopped tomato
           Chopped avocado
           Chopped green pepper
           Feta cheese
 
  Place sliced beef in a plastic bag set inside a bowl.
  For marinade: In a medium bowl, combine picante
  vinegar, oil, cilantro, garlic, pepper. Pour marinade
  over beef. Seal bag; marinate in the refrigerator for
  4-24 hours, turning bag occasionally.
  
  To serve, drain and discard the marinade. fill each
  pita half with beef. Top with chopped vegetables and
