One shouldn't join the military if they're not ready to become humiliated.
Although humiliation is good for the soul. It makes gentler people out of
them.

I'm sure it was impressed upon them that they could be called upon to
serve in some dust covered nation at any time and they signed the bottom
line anyway. They took their chances and are still going to get that
college opportunity down the road. They will have to pay a higher price
than those who didn't have to go there, but they'll get it eventually and
appreciate it more. You might want to impress upon them that getting more
education than a high school dipolma before entering the services will
ensure that you're of higher rank than the grunt in the field when they
have to go in harms way.
