The list as hatched in the file echo yes, I knew that.

However nowhere in the ONLINE version does it even suggest that that too is
only updated once a month.

You advertise the url in your message. One then finds a button "echolist
online".

The word ONLINE suggests that it is a peek into your actual data base. Nowhere
does it even suggest that this is not the case.

You present us with misleading information.

 > If you REALLY wanted to see what is in the datebase, you could send an
 > ECHO QUERY message to see what's in the database.

How the hell am I supposed to know that the information in echolist online
isn't good enough? What is the point in having the echolist online if it is not
an actual reflection of the database anyway?

 > One person has just subitted one for the SCIENCE

Again: How the hell are we supposed to know that other than by finding out the
hard way?

 > Oooooppppps, that person is a moderator who regulary

Fine, than I need not bother with that any more. It seems to be in good hands.

 > Try it yourself Michiel....we both know you have communicated

Thanks but no thanks.

You know a couple of month ago I said to myself: why not give this echolist
thing a closer look? Maybe it is not all that bad after all. Besides, the
moderator of the science echo had asked me to be comoderator and given me the
password so that I could update the listing just in case. I felt I should at
least try if I actually could when the need arose.

So I gave it a closer look and tried a few things.

I decided on a positive approach.

And what did this positive approach bring me? Nothing but
trouble! Dale Shipp finds out about it ands starts harping me about not
following EP1. Others jump on the bandwagon. When I explain that posting rules
in the science echo is not my job, I get /you/ on my back and you start
"correcting" the listing . And to top it off I get accused of being a hijacker
when I just test what according to *your* information is perfectly allright:
try to relist an expired tag.

Try it? I have already done that and got the door slammed in my face. I can
fully understand why people like Ward and Björn have turned away from it.

No thanks Thom, I tried it and got bitten. I think I will just follow Ward's
and Björn's example and stay away from it as far as I can and only touch it
again if I absolutely have no choice.

Cheers, Michiel
