The words ... loose ... rattle ... think upon them, you are actually starting
to get an incling of why an empty (for the womble) wooden barrel can rattle. No
need to re-define "barrel" just think upon the ideas wrought from the main word
"loose" you have mentioned above. Consider a barrel is made from wood and iron,
you may just get the reason.

You cannot prove an empty barrel cannot rattle, it is easy to prove physicaly,
but financialy, someone nearer to you could also do so without the travel costs
involved ... unless you are paying of course ;)  ... though I suppose you would
possess the knowse (knowledge) to do so yourself. First get a cask of wine (
last one I had was a five imperial gallon Graham's port cask ) and drain it.
The better the wine then of course the better the draining experience. Leave
the cask / barrel for a few weeks and roll it round the kitchen floor, if it
stays in one peice it will rattle.

There now go and shut up and prove to yourself how big an idiot your mate the
Womble is for misleading you.
