One stroke does not mean another will happen.  It is more likely, but that is 
only because strokes are common and most do not survive the first one.

Wayne, I am not a medical professional.  This info comes from a layman who also

worked ina hospital for a long time as a nurses aide ok?

Bland is not relevant.  Eat all the hot and spicy foods you want.  Sodium 
reduction will be recommended unless you can afford a sodium reactive study 
(probably cant).  Medical info shows only about 50% of us have blood pressure 
that reacts to sodium however almost all of us get water retention with higher 
sodium diets.  Alchohol in moderate amounts (a single glass of wine at 6oz or 
less) is normally ok unless your medications interact with it.  Lower fat is 
smart as is anything that reduces blood pressure if you run high.

For 36$, I have a home blood pressure kit thing.  We check Don regular and he 
is salt reactive while I am not.  A home kit is much more effective than just 
going to the Doc as you can use it several times a day and see what's going on.
