No one has to file one, but if you want the tax deduction, you better.

Incorporation. Not every business is incorporated. There are various other
titles, such as the cleaning lady's 'sole propriator' license. Even with
that license, she is allowed to hire workers for her business.

That's also what a lot of people do when they sell a house. The people who
we bought this one from hired a cleaning lady to do what they were
probably too tired to do, once they got the truck loaded for the third
time. I was here when the cleaning people came and there was two of them.

When we sold the rental in San Diego, I hired four different businesses to
fix up the house. One company re-roofed the house, another to paint it
inside and out, a carpet cleaner when the painters got done and one more
to do the yard clean-up after the roofers and painters. I also hired my
SIL to cut and haul away Oleanders that had over-grown the place. He took
over 4 tons of that stuff to the dump.

LOL! I spent over $7500 to get rid of that rental. I'll never own another
rental again.
