Bob,  bugger the constitution, you are talking about God here (bugger the
Mormans also). Tithing to support Religion, are you talking about "Religiously
following an ideal" (ie 12 hail Mary's or following a book of Common prayer) or
Christianity? (which is not a matter of religion). If Christianity then tithing
is something to do with ones ideals and desires for the support of the work of
spreading the Gospel truth, this has nothing to do with government of the
people. Read the epistles and the word of Jesus in the Gospels regarding the
area governed by God and those by "lawmakers". Voluntary tithing, or giving
from your income to the "church" that you belong to has nothing to do with
government, who is the higher authority, GWB or God, or in my case Helen Clarke
or God ?

I am not an "U.S.A -ian" (not intended as an insult) so the Constitution does
not matter here, but even so the "law of the land" or our (your) ideals of the
worlds laws do not nescessarily exceed God's word. You must conceed that if the
church buildings are the place of worship of your "brothers in Christ" then you
have no position to be in contempt of any way in which your "brothers in
Christ" care to support them. In the case of Christian argument you (we) must
allways consider the word of God to be paramount, if you believe it conflicts
with the "Constitution of the U.S.A" then you need to look more closely at why
it should conflict with such an ideal and then consider the worth of the ideal
it conflicts with. Quite possibly after such close consideration it infact will
be found not to conflict with such ideals, also, if the purpose of your
Christian brothers still agrees with the word of God and conflicts with the
"Constitution" then perhaps the "constitution" needs to be re-assesed in it's
worth. If your first consideration is the law as stated in the law book and/or
that of the "Constitution" then, where do you stand Biblically?

Food for thought, don't argue from a worldly perspective ;-)
