Hello Michiel.

06 Jan 07 01:11, you wrote to me:

 MV> Hello Jeff!

MV> On Friday January 05 2007 17:33, you wrote to Björn Forsström:

I am not suggesting that the same may not be also true here.
Hypothetically, the fact that I am the addresee of a netmail that you
might send me may give me the right to make it available as I choose.
That doesn't mean that it would be normally right to do so. One obvious
exception would be if both parties were to aggree on a disclosure of
the communication. Another would be legal disclosures.

JS>> When you receive that message you have the option of doing the

Trust is one of the things that is important to me. It isn't something
that is easy to aquire sometimes and it is also something that can be quick
to disappear. I try to by default give people a certain amount of trust until
they show me that that trust is undiserved. A good example of that would be
if in that same scenario I were to make available for my own gain a
communication that you sent to me with intent that it remain private. While
I think that netmail should not be used to communicate with an expectation
of privacy it is often used for that purpose.

BF>>> Don't think that anyone will ever send you a netmail after this.

MV> Or at least not write anything that he/she would not write in public.

That could very well be true.

JS>> That is of course their choice.

MV> Are you absolutely sure, you never wrote anything in private that you
MV> would rather not see blabbered all over town?

There are several distinctions that come to mind. One is gossip (What I
call talking about people behind their back) which we all have done I am
sure. And the other is personal information or communication. Of the latter
I think that people should have the right privacy.

MV> Do not do unto others....

Hmm... I always thought it was "Do unto others as you would have them do
unto you"? Guess it depends from which end your looking at it from? <g>

 MV> Cheers, Michiel
