     David, my point was that self-moderation doesn't work for those that
choose not moderate themselves. There are a number of examples of that in
this echo. There are some echos where self-moderation works fairly well.
They tend to be those where the focus of the echo is considerably more
narrow. This echo isn't one of those. People here have gotten use to the
fact that the posted rules will not be enforced. A fact that opens the door
to those that come to this echo to entertain themselves by name calling and
antagonising others. Self-moderation works for those that either have a degree
of respect for the echo and/or the moderator and act accordingly. Those that
don't choose to act as they please. It would be foolish to expect those people
to actively moderate themselves. The question is then what does one do with
those people. The current moderator seems to think that best thing to do is
to ignore them. Which amounts to waving a white flag of surrender.
