You mean all that bowing and scraping is hard on the back?

Maybe. I should probably research it more.

RN> Oh he did, believe me. What those fools who were against the measure
RN> failed to realize was that they were standing in the way of progress.
RN> Not exactly something to be proud of.

People are afraid of change. It upsets thier secure feelings when things
don't stay the same.

RN> I remember when you could ride the streetcars or busses all over New
RN> Orleans for seven cents. If you were clever enough, you could make
RN> it close to an all-day affair. It was a wonderful city back in those
 RN> days.

Here's an experience I haven't had since way back. I took my 56 Chevy out
of the garage today and headed down the road to have a guy take a look at
the aftermarket AC system that has been screwed up since who knows when.
It certainly wasn't installed correctly. Anyway, I couldn't remember the
last time I took it out, nor the last time I filled up the gas tank. The
gauge always reads full, so you never know how much gas is in the car.

Driving down I-10 towards San Antonio the Chevy ran out of gas, but I was
able to coast to an exit where I called a friend of mine for help. He sent
me 5 gallons of gas, but before that arrived, a motorist stopped to see if
he could at least pull me off the ramp and get the car out of danger.

About that time, a guy who runs a Classic Car garage on that exit came out
to lend a hand. He offered a tow rope. While we were hooking it up, the
gas came.

Now, you'd never find people like that in California. You're on your own.

It was after I got the Chevy back on the road that I found out the gas
that I got was paid for by the guy who delivered it. He never said a word
about it and I didn't give it a second thought, as I was under the
impression that my friend had paid for it.

It's a good thing he'll be back in town Sunday when I can repay him for
the gas and his kind offer to drop it off.

               R\%/itt
