Ärende: Swedish Raid on ISP Called Major Blow to Piracy

ml>>>> the real problem was BJ being a butt and not following
ml>>>> the rules of the echolist...

BF>>> Can you please provide us with a link to those rules,
BF>>> that you think I did not follow?

ml>> the rules are available on the echolist web site as well
ml>> as hatched (and possibly even posted) in the ELIST echo
ml>> every month... they are also available from the echolist
 ml>> keeper's system...

BF> You obviously completely miss what I'm trying to say.

must be that language barrier that gets tossed about ;)

BF> I know perfectly well what the *official* rules look like.

then what rules are you searching for??

BF> I was asking about the rules that says, that a submission,
BF> like the one I submitted, was not allowed:

 BF> Comoderator: Editors Emeriti, 2:2/2

for one thing, there is no COMOD keyword that i'm aware of... i don't recall
when the change was made but i do remember it... in fact, all of the tags that
i update that have more than one moderator carry only the MOD keyword...

also, would sending a netmail to editors emeriti at 2:2/2 really get a message
to /the one/ that i was writting to if i chose to or would it entail manual
intervention by yourself to forward it on??

in an official tag, the title, like your fidonews editor, is fine but editors
emeriti is not a title nor is it a person or entity...

again, i fully understand what you are saying but i also fail to see what is
wrong with doing the following...

ml>> it doesn't matter how the updates were rejected... what
ml>> matters is that they were and why...

BF> OK. I see. That really adds some more pieces to the strange
BF> picture of elist-mania that some of you seem to suffer from...

hunh?? the elist has been around for almost as long as echomail has been... i
remember when michael fuchs had it and then it was given to adrian walker by
bruce bodger and then when adrian left, it was given to thom lacosta... my
memory also seems to want to say that there was someone else before michael
fuchs but i can't get a firm grip on that thought...

i can locate stuff that indicates that michael fuchs had a copyright on the
original echolist in 1991 but that doesn't mean that he or someone else didn't
have one earlier than that... i just haven't been able to find it if there is
or was... that doesn't mean that the echolist has only been around since 1991,
either... i distinctly remember looking at a list of echos before casting a
vote in the P4 ratification process... it was from that list that i/we decided
which echos we were going to carry on our newly installed bbs software once we
got tossing and scanning figured out and operational... the RemoteAccess BBS
software echos were two of those chosen and they have remained a part of my
feed ever since then...

i don't understand what elist-mania you speak of... it is simply a list that is
used to identify echotags with info about that echotag and who the moderator of
that echotag is... no one has ever said that it was the only such list nor has
anyone ever said that it was the definitive list... what has been stated is
that the backbone distribution system(s) use the elist for information at
different times... two such times being when requesting the backbone to carry
the echotag as part of the bulk mail haul and during times of dispute such as
when a feedcut request was made of the backbone to remove someone for violating
the echo's rules...

now, what the hell is so hard to understand about that???
