Obviously what constitutes entrapment in American and Europe is different.
Particularly due to which jurisdiction applies. 
 
In America, it's only entrapment if we initate a drug deal or initate a
prostition bust.  But if we let them attempt to buy drugs from us from the
street corner, or let a car pull over to pick us up for sex, then we can arrest
them.  They initated it, the undercover officer was just standing there.  The
same thing happens with child predators.  We let them contact the fake child
first.
 
In all of these cases, they have to go as far as to expressly say what they
want.  They have to ask for the drugs, or ask for sex from the prositute, or
speak lewdly and/or try to initiate a sexual encounter with a child, before we
bust them.  Lawyers and lawsuits are so common in this country that people know
all the tricks.  You have to have some clear evidence that the person was up to
the act in question to bust them.  And sometimes they still get away on a
technicality!
 
I honestly don't see what's wrong with this by European views. We catch a lot
of obvious lawbreakers with these methods.  The criminal initiated the illegal
behavior.  Why is it so wrong, exactly?

Different crimes have different standards for how you can be arrested.  If you
plan a bank heist, or plan a terrorist action, they're going to arrest you. If
you plan to drink while driving, that's a little different, obviously. However,
if you walked up to a cop and told him you were going to go drive home drunk,
the cop would probably make sure you didn't actually plan to do so.  And if you
kept insisting you were going to, he might just detain you at the station (in
what they sometimes call the "drunk tank", which is usually just another
cell-like room with maybe benches and such) until you were sober enough to go
home.

The problem is that you assume he was invited.  As I keep saying, they police
have to let the suspect initiate such actions to prevent entrapment
accusations.  Such predators are usually the ones willing and wanting to
initiate a meet-up in the first place.
