You can be a national but not a citizen, I am an English national and citizen,
and also a New Zealand citizen. I could also become a Korean citizen, but to do
so would mean giving up my other citizenships (they only allow single
citizenship).

Hang on Roy, isn't this chap an American Samoan native, not a Samoan? They are
different countries and different islands, American Samoa is South East of
Samoa, they play Rugby in Samoa, very good at the game actually. The American
Samoans are horribly poor at the game though ;-) many Samoans come and live in
New Zealand as they can come and go as they please, those from American Samoa
though have problems and need visas. Samoans outnumber American Samoans four to
one in the Islands and there are another 100,000 living here. There are very
few American Samoan in this country, though some of my Samoan friends have
relatives who live in the USA and came from the "other island".
