 st> Taxes...

Death Taxes, which Obama supports and has stated he would increase.

 st> have children.

I do. If they're on the dole and the tax payer is footing the bill. If you
can afford to have 10 kids, go for it, but don't expect the public to
support them while you're a welfare. It's no different that if you were
divorced, whoever doesn't have custody pays for their support, not the
public.

st> Food Stamps: Distribution methods differ from state to state.

Most often by a monetary handout.

st> In Texas, it's interesting how the food stamp program works. One is
st> provided a debit card of sorts that can only be used at a grocery
 st> store.

That's what Ross was talking about.

st> Once one stacks their basket and is standing at the check out line,
st> items are passed over the scanner. Only "VALID" items are allowed to
st> be charged to the food stamp debit card. Paper products,
st> ready-to-eat meals, along with alcohol, tobacco and a dozen other
st> products are not charged to that card.

As it should be everywhere.

st> Unemployment: Similar, the recipient is provided a debit card, but
st> they are given discretion on what to spend it on. Who's to say what
st> they can and can't spend it on?

The recipient, since they're receiving benefits from the taxes they've
paid into the unemployment fund. However, they must qualify under state
laws to receive it. Some situations require you to actively seek
employment and show proof of the contacts you've made; with perhaps a
signature of the person you contacted.

st> Most use it to pay for cost of living expenses.

That's what it's for.

 st> I'm sure a few splurge it on other items, but it's temporary;
st> unemployment has limits in both amount and distribution. If one is
st> out of work long enough, the benifits are depleated.

As they are elsewhere.

st> TANF: Requires even more proof of hardship; i.e. copies of bills,
st> proof of income, ect. It's provided on a case-by-case basis with a
 st> case worker.

Not only do they have to show proof, they also have to devulge assets,
which can disqualify them if they're what isn't allowed.

st> Anytime there is a hand-out, someone will figure out how to take
st> advantage of it, but I do not propose doing away with real programs
st> that really do help people.

I don't think he said 'do away' with them, he meant that these programs be
harder to get under certain conditions.

 >> st> You might (and I'm impressed you don't swallow their entire

 >> Zero tolerance isnt a mantra that only the "right" adheres to.
 >> Zero tolerance in many aspects of the law came about after having

st> Get them off the books! It's that simple.... There are thousands
st> of laws on the books which are NOT prosecuted or even ticketed. If
st> we took that stance with every law we have in every community, in
st> every state in the United States, we would be in very sorry shape.

We already are and those laws are still on the books.
