While that is a historically true statement, given all SC justices
who have served in US history, in modern times Dan's statement is more
accurate.

That is an understatement.

Most SC justices died with their boots on.
In modern times the trend has been for SC justices
to retire before croaking.  But some just do not
ever want to leave...
