On the contrary, they are free to buy and import them, but they can't

That happens all the time in California, the computer capitol of the
world. So many Chinese PC copies are imported that they're replaced almost
on a yearly basis. Those old PC copies are given to organizations who
truck them to Mexico and then they're exported to Cuba from there.

It existed as such long before there was a terrorist bunch living there.

All prisoners, including prisoners of the UN, are denied certain basic
things. Those prisoners at Gitmo were/are given what they need, food,
shelter and clothes, plus they're allowed to practice their religion.

Something you wouldn't be allowed to do in an Iranian prison, for example.

On the contrary, it is and was recognized as a US base in Cuba.

 WD> If it wasn't American, it could only be Cuban.

It's leased from and is on the island of Cuba, but it is a US military
base. Military law rules there, not US Constitutional law.

This is no different than a military prison in Belgum or Holland.
