We can't get rid of the b*st*rds - and even if we could there'd be another 
bunch of them waiting to take over.  Remember, there's no such thing as an
honest politician.

You are correct.  Nice rhetoric, but it has never been applicable in this
country.

Right now on a local level two different laws have been imposed on the rural
citizens of the county I live in.

One is a requirement that we purchase licenses for our dogs, and keep the dogs
confined in cages or pens or on chains (while such confinement makes sense in
an urban environment it does not make sense in a rural environment where the
neighbors are 1/4 mile or more away); the county has managed to exist for 150
years without attempting to license people's pets.  Note that the people derive
no benefit from such licensing, it is merely protection money paid to the
county
government so that they won't come out and confiscate your pet.

The other is a building code.  Another law the people derive no benefit from.
Anybody who purchases a building without first having it inspected by a
licensed
inspector is an idiot; any such inspection should turn up any substandard
construction,
wiring or plumbing.  

In both of the above cases the laws are to be administered by private
contractors,
who will each receive the lion's share of any fees collected.  In the case of
the
building code, the contractor receives 75% of the building permit fees - and
the
people have to buy a building permit to build or tear down anything on their
rural
properties.
